Robotics/Machinery
Tech Gihan Sensors and RoboticsJapan is now entering a super-aging society, where robotics has become increasingly integrated into everyday life.
From labor shortages and rising personnel costs to improving productivity and reducing hazardous work, many aspects of society are being automated and optimized.
Tech Gihan’s force and tactile sensing technologies play a key role in enabling these next-generation robotic systems.

Force-Sensor-Based Autonomous Robot Control
To make robots more autonomous and optimized, they must be able to acquire and interpret various sensory data. One of the most important types of data is force feedback information.
For example, in robotic hands or grippers, the robot must grasp and transport an object with the correct force and precision. By integrating force sensors into the gripper and feeding back the sensed data in real time, robots can be controlled dynamically from the perspective of applied force — improving safety, accuracy, and adaptability. -
Compact, Thin, and Easy-to-Integrate Multi-Axis Force Sensors
Force Sensors with Built-In IMUOur sensors are compact and thin, allowing easy integration into robotic systems while measuring multi-axis force components.
They can detect not only gripping forces, but also shear (sliding) forces and even friction coefficients. In addition, some models combine force sensing with inertial measurement (IMU), enabling simultaneous acquisition of acceleration and angular velocity (gyro) data. These hybrid sensors can be mounted, for instance, on a robot arm wrist to estimate the center of gravity of an object or detect contact or collision during movement.

Custom Sensor Design for Dedicated Applications
While Tech Gihan offers a lineup of versatile multi-axis force sensors suitable for many general applications, we also design custom sensors tailored to each client’s specific needs — such as optimized size, rated capacity, and number of measurement axes. Custom amplifier design is also available. During prototyping, it may be sufficient to use existing sensors and amplifiers for testing. However, for mass production or integration into robotic systems, system optimization becomes essential. We welcome discussions about custom design and development.

Smart Digital Communication Between Sensor and Robot
Tech Gihan’s sensors and amplifiers support both analog output and digital communication. In recent years, demand for digital control, data acquisition, and real-time streaming has rapidly increased. To support application development, we provide command reference sheets and sample software for many of our digital-output sensor and amplifier products. Please feel free to contact us for further information or customization options.

Applications Across Industrial Machinery
Beyond robotics, Tech Gihan’s force sensors are widely used in various industrial machines, consumer product R&D, large-scale machining systems, and structural evaluations. They are especially valuable in cases where simulation alone cannot predict real forces, allowing engineers to measure actual loads on components directly. With the addition of wireless amplifier systems, it is now possible to measure forces in rotating bodies or aerial systems such as drones, without worrying about cable routing or interference.

ROS2-Compatible Force Sensor Amplifiers
Tech Gihan has developed and released the Linux/ROS2 driver software “tecgihan_driver” for the DMA-03 for Robot, a compact 3-channel strain amplifier (digital type) designed for robotic force sensing. This amplifier supports real-time output required by robotic systems and can now be seamlessly integrated into ROS-based robot architectures. With the ROS-compatible driver, Tech Gihan’s compact force sensors can be easily incorporated into robot systems, and the measured data can be utilized through ROS’s rich visualization and analysis tools.
